WHITE PIGEON, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A White Pigeon Man who admitted to hitting and killing a 64-year-old jogger and then hiding her body was sentenced on Monday, July 31.
Authorities say Colby Martin received a life sentence without the possibility of parole on three counts to include open murder, failure to stop at the scene when at fault causing death, and concealing the death of an individual. Martin was found guilty by a jury on all three counts after 1 1/2 hours of deliberations back on June 14th.
64-year-old Melody Rohrer was hit and killed when she was jogging near Oak Shores Campground on September 20, 2021. Martin led detectives to where her body was located on Purgatory Road by the Three Rivers State Game Area the day after Rohrer went missing, and admitted to moving her body with his black Ford truck and dumping it near the game area.
Investigators say Martin adamantly denied engaging in sexual activity with Rohrer’s body, although to the contrary, investigators also found that Martin had looked up necrophilia online nearly a month before the killing.
