BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The re-dedication of Kimball Pines Park in Battle Creek has been scheduled for Saturday, August 5.
An announcement from the Calhoun County Parks Department says the event will take place at 1158 East Michigan Avenue starting at 9:00 a.m.. Attendees will be able to practice disc golf, participate in a seed throwing activity, and walk along the newly paved trail.
The Kimball Pines Park rededication comes after an extensive renovation project, made possible by a $200,000 grant awarded to Calhoun County from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in 2020, as well as the Calhoun County Parks Millage.
Officials say the park’s renovation focused on several key aspects to enhance visitor experiences while maintaining long-term sustainability.
Upgrades include a new entrance and parking areas for improved accessibility and safety.
Calhoun County Parks Department Director Doug Ferrall says “Kimball Pines Park holds a special place in the hearts of our residents, and we are thrilled to unveil the results of this revitalization project. The community has wanted this for a long time, and we are immensely grateful for the support that made it possible.”
Kimball Pines Park was devastated by a major storm in 2011. The setbacks continued when there was a subsequent infestation of European Spruce Bark Beetles which led to a period of underuse and disrepair.
