The Kalamazoo Public Schools Board of Education is losing another trustee.
Megan Maddock announced last night that she has taken a job teaching in the Ann Arbor School District, and will no longer be eligible for board membership.
Her last meeting was last night.
Maddock has been one of the more outspoken school board members in the last year, critical of the district’s leadership and its legal counsel, saying previous leadership was guilty of micromanagement and creating tension among board members.

She left the board with a list of recommendations, like establishing specific goals for the work they do, shortening board terms to make seats accessible to more residents, and recommending the board find a new legal counsel.
The board will now likely go through an application process, just as they did last month when former trustee Tandy Moore resigned. Under state law they have 30 days to fill the vacancy.
Maddock had been a trustee for the last two and half years. Whoever is picked to replace her will serve out the three and a half years left on her term.
