KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – More details have emerged on the Tuesday, July 18 multi-law enforcement chase of a suspect wanted on felonious assault.
According to the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department, the 24-year-old man had been in possession of a stolen firearm when he fled the 2200 block of Gull Road after allegedly threatening people with a gun around 2:20 p.m.
An alert was put out to neighboring law enforcement agencies describing the man and his vehicle which was spotted by Western Michigan University Police on Stadium Drive.
The suspect then fled when they tried to stop the vehicle, leading them on a pursuit that would eventually involve the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police. The suspect was arrested by MSP officers after running from the vehicle into the woods on 10th Street near H. Avenue in Oshtemo Township, but not before striking another vehicle and injuring it’s occupants.
The suspect is now in jail facing several charges to include felonious assault and felon in possession of a firearm.
