WHITE PIGEON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An Elkhart Indiana man was hospitalized for serious but non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a motorist while walking on the side of the road in St. Joseph County.
The Sheriff’s Office says it happened back on Monday, July 10 in the area of US-131 south of Indian Prairie Road in White Pigeon Township.
Deputies say a 40-year-old Three Rivers man was traveling southbound on US-131 at the same time the 39-year-old Elkhart Indiana man was walking on the side of the road. That man then walked into traffic and was struck by the vehicle driven by the Three Rivers man.
The victim was flown by Air Care to Bronson Hospital for treatment.
Authorities say both alcohol and speed do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash which remains under investigation.
