KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Over the next couple to three days, residents in and around the City of Kalamazoo will celebrate the 4th of July holiday, which in many cases, may involve their own personal fireworks displays.
The city released guidance on the matter on Thursday, June 29, which states that residents may use home and consumer fireworks from now through July 4 from 11 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. each day.
City officials say however that fireworks will not be permitted on Wednesday, July 5, and that they are only allowed when the 5th falls on a Friday or Saturday.
They go onto say that violations may result in a $1,000 fine.
Residents with complaints about fireworks can call 311 or the non-emergency Public Safety number at 269-488-8911, or email publicsafety@kalamazoocity.org.
