BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Road closures, office closures, and service changes are in place for this year’s Independence Day holiday and the Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival in Battle Creek.
City offices are closed Tuesday, July 4 in observance of the holiday. Buildings are open regular hours Monday, July 3, and the rest of the week after the 4th.
Battle Creek Transit services are canceled July 4, resuming regular schedules on Wednesday, July 5. Republic Services is closed July 4, so city customer curbside pickup is delayed one day for Tuesday through Friday customers next week.
Due to the holiday and Field of Flight event, Battle Creek Police fingerprint services are canceled on June 29, July 4, and July 6. Regular service hours will resume on Tuesday, July 11. Police offer fingerprint services at the station from 2-4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Closures at the start/finish area at 6th Avenue and 28th Street
Police will temporarily stop traffic for runners crossing Columbia Avenue at South 24th Street
Watch for police and runners along the race route, which includes the numbered streets on the north side of Columbia, and streets off of 24th on the south side of Columbia
Saturday, July 1 and Monday, July 4 – 10:30 p.m.-midnight – fireworks shows
Helmer closed from Columbia to Dickman
No eastbound traffic on Columbia from Stone Jug to Helmer
Police will direct traffic from each airport parking gate – please follow that direction
Be prepared for traffic delays around the airport until fireworks traffic clears
