BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – With the Field of Flight Air Show & Balloon Festival beginning Thursday at the Battle Creek Executive Airport, the City of Battle Creek has announced a series of street and road closures.
The following closures reference through traffic. That means you can drive through only if you are going to access the festival, or a home or business in that area.
Thursday, June 29 – 3:30-11 p.m.
Festival parking opens at 4 p.m.
Helmer closed to through traffic from Columbia to Dickman – look for detour information posted at Goguac Street, Columbia/Helmer, Helmer/Territorial, Dickman/Helmer
Friday, June 30 – 2:30-11 p.m.
Helmer closed to through traffic from Columbia to Dickman – look for detour information posted at Goguac Street, Columbia/Helmer, Helmer/Territorial, Dickman/Helmer
Saturday, July 1 – 6:45-9 a.m. – Battle Creek Half-Marathon
Festival parking opens at 10 a.m.

Closures at the start/finish area at 6th Avenue and 28th Street
Police will temporarily stop traffic for runners crossing Columbia Avenue at South 24th Street
Watch for police and runners along the race route, which includes the numbered streets on the north side of Columbia, and streets off of 24th on the south side of Columbia
Saturday, July 1 and Monday, July 4 – 10:30 p.m.-midnight – fireworks shows
Helmer closed from Columbia to Dickman
No eastbound traffic on Columbia from Stone Jug to Helmer
Police will direct traffic from each airport parking gate – please follow that direction
Be prepared for traffic delays around the airport until fireworks traffic clears
Saturday, July 1 to Monday, July 4 – 9:30 a.m.-11 p.m.

Due to the holiday and Field of Flight event, Battle Creek Police fingerprint services are canceled on June 29, July 4, and July 6. Regular service hours will resume on Tuesday, July 11. Police offer fingerprint services at the station from 2-4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
