MARSHALL, MI — The opponents of the Marshall Megasite have filed a lawsuit against the city of Marshall as they are seeking to put the decision to a public vote.
The city and Marshall Township have entered into an agreement with Ford Motor Company for Ford to build an electric vehicle battery plant on what had been farmland near the intersection of Interstates 94 and 69.
Dana Kowalske is one of the eight people who sued, and says the city violated its charter by adding an appropriation to the rezoning of the land that prevents it from going to a referendum. She says over 800 people signed their petition, but it was deemed insufficient by the city clerk.
