PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Following opposition from residents about plans for two housing projects near Austin and West Lakes in Portage, a task force has wasted no time getting organized.
They didn’t wait for City Council approval of their membership to hold their first meeting. Member David Disser says they have already set up a website and an e-mail address to begin receiving public comments and inquiries. He says they can receive comments at speakupportage@gmail.com and will post the information they collect at speakupportage.com.
Homeowners say they fear the two projects will mean more traffic, more crowding and damage to natural areas near their homes.
The task force, which was formally appointed Tuesday, is made up of one City Council member, city staff members, and six homeowners.
