KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – One person was rescused from a burning house Sunday morning in Kalamazoo.
At 9:39 a.m. the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to a residence in the 700 block of Egleston Avenue for a structure fire. Callers reported that a female resident may have been trapped somewhere on the second floor of the home.
First arriving Public Safety officers found heavy smoke and fire inside the first floor of the house. They were able to rescue the trapped female from a second-floor window using a ladder.
She was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The fire was brought under control after about 90 minutes, however crews were on scene for more than three hours conducting salvage and overhaul operations.
The Fire Marshal was called to the scene and is currently investigating.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
