KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says a person of interest is in custody in a suspected case of abuse and neglect of an infant.
A State of Michigan Children’s Protective Services reported to KDPS Tuesday that a two-month-old infant was being treated for potentially life-threatening injuries at an area hospital. Detectives conducted several interviews with witnesses over the course of several hours.
The investigation led detectives to execute a search warrant in the 700 block of Garland Avenue in the City of Kalamazoo. Detectives discovered evidence in the residence related to the ongoing investigation. The person of interest was then taken into custody.
KDPS says the investigation into the abuse and neglect of the infant is ongoing. The infant remains hospitalized and they say additional steps have been taken to ensure the infant’s safety.
