SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Two vehicles were damaged and one person was taken into custody following a chase that started out in South Haven and ended in Allegan County near Zeeland, Monday, May 22.
According to the South Haven Police Department, it all started when officers attempted a traffic stop on I-196 in South Haven Monday evening.
The vehicle they were trying to stop fled north into Allegan County where it crashed into a construction sign and embankment near 84th Avenue. The pursuing patrol vehicle ran over gravel in the construction area following the crash of the suspect vehicle.
The subject driver was treated for injuries at the scene and released, and both the driver’s and police vehicle sustained damage.
Felony charges are now being sought on the driver.
