KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety firefighters extinguished a house fire within minutes Saturday evening, May 20.
Public safety officers responded to the 1400 block of West Main where they observed fire and smoke coming from the porch of the residence. Firefighters then attacked and knocked down the flames on the outside which kept the fire from extending into the house.
The fire was brought under control in 10 minutes with damage contained to the porch and the front of the structure.
A resident and their cat escaped uninjured, and no firefighters were hurt during the incident which is under investigation by the Fire Marshall’s Office.
