KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says a vehicle that crashed on southbound U.S. 131 near Stadium Drive in Oshtemo Township Saturday was traveling at a high rate of speed on the shoulder of the road before the accident.
The driver of the at-fault vehicle has now passed away, while two others in the two vehicles involved in the crash were injured with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office says their investigation into the cause of the accident determined that the at-fault vehicle was attempting to pass vehicles at a high rate of speed on shoulder of the freeway. The vehicle lost control and ultimately rolled over, ejecting the driver from the vehicle. The man was initially transported to Bronson Hospital in critical condition, but passed away from his injuries.
Police say it’s currently unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in this crash.
