PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The West Osterhout Sanitary Sewer Lift Station Rehabilitation project got underway on Monday, May 15 at 1425 West Osterhout Avenue.
This means that temporary traffic signals will control traffic on West Osterhout Avenue between Pennridge Drive and Pierport Drive to allow one lane of traffic around construction activities at the lift station.
According to the City of Portage, the project to replace a can-style lift station that was constructed in 1978 includes the removal of the riser of the existing prefabricated lift station and internal components, abandonment of the remaining prefabricated steel enclosure, rehabilitation of the existing wet well, construction of a valve vault, replacement of all internal piping, electrical, controls and pumps, installation of an emergency generator, and site improvements.
City officials expect construction to last through August.
