GRAND RAPIDS MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A fourth person has pleaded guilty in connection with bribery charges involving a now non-existent marijuana licensing board in Michigan.
Brian Pierce said he agreed to give Rick Johnson about $42,000 and provide other benefits, in exchange for Johnson paving the way for Pierce’s clients to get licenses.
Johnson has already pleaded guilty in the case, along with two others.
Johnson served as Speaker of the State House from 2001 to 2004.
Governor Whitmer disbanded the board in 2019, and gave oversight of the licensing process to a state agency.
