CONSTANTINE TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Michigan State Police say a St. Joseph County homeowner shot an intruder who was armed with a knife on Friday night.
Troopers with the Marshall Post say the home invasion took place in the 60000 block of Maple Road west of Constantine at about 10:00 p.m..
When the State Police arrived on the scene, they found a man laying outside of the residence with a gunshot wound to the upper thigh.
Troopers provided lifesaving care to the subject until EMS arrived.
The injured man was transported to Memorial South Bend Hospital where he underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
The incident remains under investigation.
