CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Two persons were injured in three Calhoun County shooting incidents that took place within eight hours on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were dispatched at about 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night to the 200 block of East Coolidge in Pennfield Township where they found a man had been shot. He sought treatment for non-life threatening injuries at Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek. A 48-year-old Battle Creek man was identified as the shooter and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail.
Deputies were then dispatched at about 2 a.m. Thursday morning to the intersection of 20th St and Avenue A in the City of Springfield where they discovered suspects in a grey sedan had fired multiple times at an occupied vehicle. No injuries were reported but the vehicle sustained damage. Deputies collected several spent bullet casings from the scene. No suspects are in custody yet.
About a half hour later, deputies responded to the 100 block of Hopkins Street in Pennfield Township where they found several spent bullet casings and three vehicles damaged that were hit by the gunfire. Deputies found a man who was in one of the vehicles seeking treatment for non-life threatening injuries at Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek. Deputies have no suspects in this incident.
