PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Portage City Council wants to hear from the public tonight on their proposed budget for the coming fiscal year, and a proposal to revise their marihuana ordinance.
The proposal does not include an increase in the tax rate, but it does propose a 5% hike in water rates and an 8.5% increase in sewer bills.
The Portage City Council will also hold a public hearing on an ordinance amendment that would allow drive-thru pick-up windows at marihuana dispensaries. Council members had some concerns about security and accessibility when it first came up.
The revised ordinance would also continue a ban on outdoor grows and change the spelling of the drug from marihuana to marijuana in the ordinance.
Final votes on the budget and the ordinance amendment would take place at their next meeting in two weeks.
The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. at Portage City Hall.
