BARRY COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Barry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a 41-year-old Hastings man on Monday, May 1.
Authorities say it happened around 10:20 a.m. on M-37 near Rork Road in Rutland Township.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Malibu and a Jeep Wrangler were both traveling north on M-37.
The driver of the Chevrolet pulled onto the shoulder and attempted to make a U Turn, pulling into the path of the Jeep. The Jeep then struck the Chevrolet on the driver’s side, sending both vehicles into the ditch.
The driver of the Chevrolet was found unresponsive by emergency personnel who pronounced him dead at the scene despite them performing lifesaving measures.
The driver of the Jeep, a 48-year-old female from Middleville was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
