EAST LANSING, MI — Michigan State University’s A.J. Hoggard is joining backcourt partner Jaden Aikens in testing the waters of the NBA. It’s not clear is the junior guard is signing with an agent, which would end his college career.
Hoggard, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining in East Lansing, started 33 of 34 games for the Spartans last season. He posted career-best averages of 12.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 30.6 minutes. He also dished out out 5.9 assists per game while cutting down on his turnovers.
Hoggard and Akins are among 242 underclassmen and international players who have applied for the draft, according to a release from the NBA. Per NCAA rules all college players have until May 31 to withdraw their name and return to schools, per NCAA rules.
