PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Two suspects were lodged in the Calhoun County Jail on Sunday after shots were fired from a vehicle in the area of Hopkins Street and East Avenue North in Pennfield Township.
Callers told 9-1-1 dispatchers that two vehicles were driving at high rates of speed and one was firing a gun at the other.
The Sheriff’s Department reports that callers were also able to give good descriptions of the vehicles. Deputies located one of the involved vehicles in the area of the incident unoccupied.
Shortly after, Battle Creek Police officers found the other vehicle and tried to stop it.
The vehicle fled from them and, after a vehicle pursuit, stopped on New Moon Terrace in the City of Springfield.
The occupants then fled on foot but two were captured. They were lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on multiple charges.
A firearm was also located in the area, and the suspect vehicle was found to have been stolen out of Kalamazoo County.
Calhoun County Deputies were assisted by officers from the Battle Creek Police Department and the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority.
