KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The City of Kalamazoo issued a boil water advisory for a portion of a Comstock Township neighborhood on Tuesday, April 18.
The advisory is in effect on East Main Street from North 26th Street to just east of Merry Brook Street. It includes all addresses on Merry Brook Street, Cedar Brook Drive, Spruce Brook Drive, Fawn Brook Drive and Willow Brook Drive.
Officials say work on the water infrastructure in that area prompted the advisory and that work on the infrastructure will cause a drop in water pressure, which could allow bacteria to enter the system.
They went onto say the advisory is precautionary, and that no bacteria had been found in the system as of Tuesday.
Still, they advise those in the affected area to boil their water for two minutes before consuming it.
Authorities say tests confirming the water’s safety should be back soon and expect to lift the advisory by Friday, April 21.
