KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo Hope Thru Navigation holding a pop-up event on Saturday, April 15 to give out free Narcan kits.
The event came as six people died and more than a dozen others were taken to the hospital between Wednesday and Thursday last week, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, which is investigating the overdoses alongside other area law enforcement agencies.
The event took place at the North Pole Party Store, near North Westnedge Avenue and North Street in partnership with COPE Network.

Officials say nearly 2,000 overdose deaths were reported in 2022 across Michigan, a decrease of 1,000 from 2021.
They urge anyone experiencing a negative side effect from any drug to call 911 immediately.
