KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — There was a time that if you wanted to find out how well your children were doing in school, you had to wait for a report card or a Parent-teacher meeting. But now, online apps have changed all that.
Interim Superintendent Cindy Green put their latest online communications tools on display for Trustees at their last meeting, showing how parents can access new information, newsletters from individual schools, and a “Parent Portal” that allows them to check on their students, and other sections where even homework assignments can be downloaded.
Green says in case of an emergency, the app makes it’s possible to send out alerts.
And what if the parent or guardian happens to be non-English speaking?
Green says they also do what they can to send out information the old-fashioned way for parents who are not online.
