KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – There were calls again at the Kalamazoo School Public Schools Board of Education meeting last night for a third party investigation into why Superintendent Dr. Rita Raichoudhuri quit last December just before Operations Director Jim English was fired.
Members of the public complained to school trustees last night that the lack of transparency was hurting the district and casting doubts on the board’s credibility.
Board of Education member Megan Maddock says they consulted with the attorney from the Michigan Association of School Boards, who confirmed their hands were tied by confidentiality clauses that Dr. Richoudhuri included in her separation deal.
She says both parties would have to waive that for any investigation.
Sources have told WKZO that Dr. Raichoudhuri might have been implicated in some of the activities that led to termination of Jim English, and resigned before that could happen. The separation agreement prevents the Board of Education from discussing it.
