KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Wednesday’s stormy weather brought with it heavy rains and flooding to many low lying areas in Kalamazoo.
One area that took the brunt is Homer Stryker Field, which is right next to the overflowing Kalamazoo River.
According to Kalamazoo Growlers Media Entertainment Director Dean Thomas, as of Thursday, the water was measuring to about a foot deep at the outfield, and up to about waist deep in parts of the stadium’s concourse.
He went onto say also that water had begun to drain from the field as of Thursday afternoon, and that it shouldn’t affect any upcoming baseball games.
The Growlers are scheduled to take on Battle Creek at their first home games of the season Wednesday, May 31, and Thursday, June 1.
