KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man is on his way to prison for the death of a Western Michigan University student in 2022.
Angel Hostiguin received a sentence on Monday of 54 months to 15 years for striking 21 year-old Kaylee Gansberg of Illinois with his vehicle around 2:30 a.m. on West Michigan Avenue near Howard Street on August 27th of last year.
Gansberg died from her injuries hours later. Police say Hostiguin was arrested on related charges after it was found that he was drunk at the time of the crash.
According to court documents, he pled guilty to operating a car while intoxicated causing death.
