KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kalamazoo City Commissioners will get an update at their meeting tonight from Southwest Michigan First on their new approach to job development, which will likely include a discussion of a new downtown arena.
The business development agency has just adopted a new strategic plan they call the “Path to Regional Prosperity.”
CEO Jonas Peterson says the new downtown Kalamazoo event center/arena project is just one of several regional ideas that are acting as catalysts, to help developers make communities healthier and more attractive.
The event center project was first revealed two weeks ago when the group behind the proposal approached the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners to buy some of the land they will need for the multi-million dollar downtown project.
