PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Portage Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) announces the inaugural Recycled Art Contest to promote recycling in Portage.
Organizers say the contest is for all ages in the following age groups/grades: K – 4th grade, 5th – 8th grade, 9th – 12th grade, and 18+, and provides an opportunity to give unused items a new life in art, promote creativity, and enhance public awareness of recycling.
YAC members will judge artwork on Monday, April 10 based on recycling content, creative use of materials, originality, and overall design.
The winners from each age group will receive a prize and the artwork will be displayed at City Hall for the week of April 24 to April 28 to commemorate Earth
Day.
The YAC is accepting only ten projects in each category and entries must be received by Friday, April 7, by 5 p.m.
Projects should be made from clean recycled materials, be original, and be limited to 3’ x 3’ in size.
