RICHLAND, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Gull Lake Middle School had to be evacuated Friday afternoon after what Police describe as a swatting incident Friday
Shortly after 10:00 a.m., the Kalamazoo County Consolidated Dispatch Authority received a bomb threat for Gull Lake Middle School.
Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the school, and in a coordinated effort with staff, the middle school was swiftly evacuated, and
safety procedures and protocols were implemented.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, with the help of Michigan State Police and Calhoun County
Sheriff’s Office utilized police K9s to search the building.
The building was cleared, no suspicious items were found, and students were allowed to re-enter the building.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office is working with the FBI and have confirmed that this appears
to be a swatting call. This is similar to swatting incidents a few weeks ago that swept across Michigan.
