ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The US Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded OnPoint a three year, $411,533 grant to provide targeted outreach and service access for homeless individuals and families in Allegan County.
The project will provide community-based assessment, case management, housing navigation and other supportive services. Services will be provided in locations where homeless individuals and families stay, work and receive other services and supports.
Funding was received through a competitive application process of the Michigan Balance of State Continuum of Care (MIBOSCOC), consisting of 61 of the most rural counties across Michigan.
According to Jesica Mays, MIBOSCOC Coordinator, the funding announcement from HUD means Allegan County will have “the resources to increase its ability to identify and engage people who have limited ability to access housing services and ensure they are assisted through the process of gaining stable housing”.
OnPoint is Allegan County’s housing assessment and resource agency and public community mental health authority, providing housing services in addition to services and supports to help people live with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders.
