KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – City Commissioners will take their next step toward encouraging more affordable day care opportunities in Kalamazoo today.
They have scheduled a presentation this afternoon on some of the efforts that are already underway to improve child care.
City Commissioner Quianna Decker was the first to raise the possibility during recent budget talks, saying it’s one way they could help lift the local economy, and help families.
City Manager Jim Ritsema has set aside funding in this year’s budget to get the ball rolling…
Commissioner Chris Praedel says it may take a while to make it happen, but budgeting money for it helps.
That presentation will come during their afternoon Committee of the Whole session.
This evening during their regular meeting Commissioners will receive a report on the results of a community survey recently conducted in Kalamazoo.
