KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A tribute dinner for the co-founder of God’s Kitchen of Michigan and Broncos Kitchen is set to be held in Kalamazoo on Monday, February 6.
Chairman of God’s Kitchen of Michigan and president of Broncos Kitchen Reverend William Stein says the dinner will honor his mother and co-founder of the meals programs, Joan Lafayette.
The dinner will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 6 at the Wesley Foundation at 2350 Ring Road North in Kalamazoo.
Lafayette and her son incorporated God’s Kitchen of Michigan in 2011, and Broncos Kitchen in 2012. Both programs serve free meals in Kalamazoo, Portage and Battle Creek to the homeless, college students and others in need.
Lafayette worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Battle Creek for 29 years and retired in 2009 as a food and nutrition service supervisor. She served as vice-president of God’s Kitchen of Michigan and Broncos Kitchen until her passing in February 2021.
