KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Western Michigan University wants to boost the number of students who make the leap from Kalamazoo Valley Community College to their 4-year university, by making it easier to transfer. That means making sure that students take the right courses at the community college, and that those courses align with what they are teaching at WMU.
KVCC Provost Paige Eagan.
WMU President Edward Montgomery and KVCC President L. Marshall Washington both signed the agreement on Monday, January 23.
Dr. Eagan says they are still working on program specific agreements that will further smooth the transition for students with biomedical, engineering, brewing and other specific majors.
Officials say one of the goals of the agreement is to keep the talent in town, by providing pathways to lucrative jobs in the community, boosting the local economy as well.
