KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kazoo 48 Film Festival is back, continuing their film contest within Southwest Michigan.
The festival is set to continue to uniting cinema enthusiasts, filmmakers, avid social media posters and anybody who enjoys a challenge.
Event organizers urge those who think they got what it takes to enter the contest online and participate in this year’s event.
Participants will be able to form their own group or work independently, after which they will be randomly assigned a genre, line of dialogue, character, location and prop they have to use within their 1-6 minute film. The film itself must be turned in on time and completed within the 48 hours to qualify.
Once complete, the films will be judged in respective categories (Amateur and Professional) by a group of local filmmakers.
“This festival was designed to encourage filmmaking,” says Chad Campbell, executive director of the festival. “Everyone has a story worth telling, and sometimes the hardest part is finding the motivation to pick up a camera and tell it. With Kazoo 48, we encourage that impulse and being okay with diving in to something you might not know.”
Upon registration, filmmakers will receive information on potential ways to get their assignments even earlier, along with any and all details on how the festival works.
Prizes will be awarded to the “Best of” in the contest.
The contest begins on Friday, March 31 at 6 p.m., with submissions due on Sunday, April 2 at 6 p.m. All finished products will be showcased at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts on April 20.
