KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Gas prices in Michigan are up seven cents from a week ago.
Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $3.37 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 39 cents more than this time last month and 13 cents more than this time last year.
AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland attributes the higher prices to increased demand in the state. She goes onto say that if demand remains robust, drivers will likely see pump prices increase through the week.
Prices are a few cents higher than the state average in a couple of Southwest Michigan counties however.
According to gasprices.aaa.com, motorists are paying around $3.41 per gallon in Barry and Kalamazoo Counties, a cent lower in both Allegan and Calhoun Counties. But the price per gallon goes a bit in Cass County at $3.37 per gallon, $3.35 in Van Buren County, and cheaper yet in St. Joseph County at $3.30 per gallon.
