THORNAPPLE TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Wayland Post are investigating a single vehicle crash involving a Chevrolet Tahoe on Wednesday, January 18 around 7:00 a.m. on Bender Road in Thornapple Township.
Preliminary investigation shows the Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling south on Bender Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree. Both the driver and passenger were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Thornapple Township Emergency Services.
The 18-year-old male driver of Freeport and his 16-year-old female passenger also of Freeport were transported by TTES ambulance to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids for medical treatment. Injuries were reported as serious but non-life-threatening for both occupants.
The crash remains open pending further investigation.
