GoFundMe established for Hickory Corners firefighter fighting his own battle

HICKORY CORNERS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A GoFundMe page has been established for Hickory Corners firefighter Greg Garrett who has been fighting for his life since Christmas due to complications with the flu.

According to family, the complications have lead to nine broken ribs, a collapsed lung and having to depend on a ventilator to breathe.  This in turn, prompted assistant chief, Rod Cox, to start the GoFundMe page in order to help his colleague.

“The Hickory Corners Fire Department and community has been the beneficiary of Greg’s selfless service for these past 33 years as he was usually the first or second to arrive at the station to get the fire apparatus to the scene to help someone else,” said Cox.
