MARSHALL, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A Sturgis woman has been taken into custody in connection with an alleged Calhoun County arson last week.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office detectives got information on Wednesday from Michigan State Police troopers in Saint Joseph County that the 29-year-old woman may be responsible for an arson of a residence which took place in the 100 block of Vanarmon Avenue in Pennfield Township on January 3.
Calhoun County deputies found the woman in Athens Township, and the Sheriff’s Department says she provided deputies with information confessing to the arson.
The woman was lodged for arson of real property at the Calhoun County Jail.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
Deputies were assisted by the Pennfield Township Fire Department in response to that fire, and have since been assisted by Michigan State Police and the State Fire Marshal.
