PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Portage’s City Manager is asking residents to take some time to complete a city poll that could steer the future of the community, and how it spends the tens of millions of dollars paid in taxes every year.
City Manager Patrick McGinnis is also making an appeal to Portage City council members and the community to steer people toward their “Forward Together 2045 Masterplan” survey.
So far, according to McGinnis, about 50 of Portage’s 50,000 residents have responded, which represents only 1/10 of a percent of the population. He went onto say the more people who participate in the survey, the more accurate it will be as staff and the Council plan to use it to set budget priorities.
Citizens can find the survey at the city’s website or on paper at City Hall. McGinnis says they will be accepting responses through mid-February.
The survey can be accessed online here at https://www.portagemi.gov/776/Master-Plan
