MARSHALL, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The seven Calhoun County Board of Commissioners were sworn in for their new terms on Thursday night.
Among those taking their oaths were new commissioners Monique French from District 2 and Diane Thompson from District 6.
The Commissioners selected Kathy-Sue Vette as the chairperson for the 2023-24 term while Steve Frisbie will serve as Vice Chair for 2023, with that position limited by state law to one year.
On the consent agenda, Commissioners approved the 2023 Board of Commissioners meeting schedule, an appointment to the Veterans Affairs Committee, an appointment to the County Economic Development Corporation, and FEMA Public Assistance Grant Agreements, related to COVID-19 expenses.
In new business, the Board approved a Road Department MDOT contract for federal grant funding for 2023 road improvements on 28 Mile Road from Gordon Lake Access to H Drive N, a 2023 safety grant for tree removal on M Drive South in Burlington Township and Uldriks Road in Bedford Township and authorization to post unused, vacant county land for sale.
