HOLLAND, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man thought he could get away without paying for a few things at a Blain’s Farm and Fleet store in Holland on Wednesday, December 28.
As authorities will point out, it was more like thousands of dollars worth of items, including some high-value tools.
According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, store staff told deputies that the 51-year-old suspect had left the store with a cart full of stuff he did not pay for and drove off in a pickup truck.
Deputies were able to locate him in the area of US-31 and New Holland Street, where they tried to pull him over. But instead, the man fled, leading deputies into Park Township.
During the chase, his vehicle eventually got stuck in a snowbank in the area of 168th Avenue and Lakeshore Avenue. He was soon taken into custody after trying to run from from his stuck truck.
The suspect is now facing several charges according to the sheriff’s office.
