CASS COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan State Police troopers from the Niles post are investigating a single vehicle crash that took the life of a Cass County Man on Wednesday, December 28.
Authorities say it happened around 7:45 p.m. on Bertrand Street near Batchlor Drive in Milton Township.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the 65-year-old driver from Niles was traveling eastbound in a Toyota SUV on Bertrand Street before losing control, veering off the roadway and colliding into a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
Police believe they may not have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and are unsure if alcohol was involved.
Troopers were assisted by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, Niles Township Fire Department, and SMACS Ambulance.
This crash remains open pending further investigation.
