KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man accused of killing a Western Michigan University student and shooting two others near the I-94 park-and-ride by Oakland Drive appeared in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, December 21.
31-year-old Myquan Deontae Rogers now facing 17 counts from the fatal shooting on August 26, to include murder, felony firearms, and assault with intent to murder, which if convicted, could mean life in prison.
Police say Rogers allegedly used a stolen AR-15 to kill WMU student 22-year-old Naya Reynolds of Kalamazoo, and injure a 35-year-old pregnant Kalamazoo woman and her 18-month-old child at the Oakland Drive entrance ramp. The woman’s unborn child later died according to authorities.
Officers found Rogers hiding in an Osthemo Township apartment on November 17 and took him into custody.
His bond was denied by a Kalamazoo County judge during his November arraignment.
