CENTREVILLE, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A Centreville man was arrested Friday following a bizarre incident in St. Joseph County.
St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark A. Lillywhite reports deputies from his department tried to stop a vehicle that left the scene of a property damage crash in Centreville.
The suspect vehicle was seen on M-86 before it led deputies on a pursuit through Colon Township.
After causing property damage and nearly striking other vehicles, the 38-year-old suspect lost control and crashed onto private property in the Village of Colon.
The suspect got out of the vehicle and proceeded to take off all of his clothes. Lillywhite says the naked man appeared to comply with verbals commands from the deputies but he then allegedly struck a deputy in the face.
The unnamed suspect was subdued and placed into handcuffs after a brief struggle. He was taken to Sturgis Hospital where he was medically cleared.
The suspect was lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail on charges of Fleeing and Eluding, Assault on a Peace Officer, Resisting and Obstructing, Indecent exposure, and Driving while license suspended.
Assisting St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Deputies was Colon Police, the Michigan DNR, the Colon Fire Department and Lifecare Ambulance.
