KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The U.S. Attorney’s Office Western District of Michigan announced on Monday, December 5 that a Kalamazoo woman has been sentenced to nine years in prison for possession and intent to distribute 1.5 kilograms of fentanyl.
According to the attorney’s office, 39-year-old Candi Tayor possessed the large quantity of fentanyl because she was transferring it from one higher-level dealer to another.
Taylor’s charges and conviction Monday were from her arrest in March.
A search warrant was obtained of Taylor’s home, vehicle, and her father’s home, which law enforcement believed Taylor was using as a stash house.
Taylor was in her vehicle in the driveway of her home when the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team and officers found her with a baggie of about ten grams of fentanyl in her hand and a digital scale nearby.
During the search, investigators found over 100 grams of fentanyl in her coat and over 1,400 grams of fentanyl in a locked toolbox in her father’s home, with intent to distribute.
Authorities say The Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team had been investigating Taylor for her involvement with fentanyl distribution in and around Kalamazoo.
