COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies recovered a stolen vehicle in Comstock Township on Monday, December 5.
Deputies responded to the area of East G Avenue on North 35th Street around 4:30 p.m. on a report that a stolen Chevy S-10 pickup was seen in the area.
The vehicle was located and the driver was ordered to stop, but instead fled into a private driveway and accelerated into the backyard before disabling the vehicle.
The two occupants then fled from the vehicle on foot into a heavily wooded area. Deputies located the subjects with the help of a K9 track and took both into custody.
The driver, a juvenile from Kalamazoo, was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home on charges of Flee and Elude, Resisting and Obstructing, and Receiving and Concealing a stolen motor vehicle.
The passenger, and 18-year-old Kalamazoo female, was taken to the Kalamazoo County jail on a charge of Resisting and Obstructing along with an outstanding warrant.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety K9 Team.
