JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle crash with injuries on Tuesday, November 22.
Sheriff Richard Behnke reports that it happened on M-60 near Daily Road in Jefferson Township around 8:30 a.m.
Deputies say that 71-year-old Gary Schaller of Dowagiac was traveling south bound on Daily Road. Schaller stopped at the stop sign at Daily Road and M-60, looked both ways, and proceeded forward and did not see the second vehicle traveling west bound.
The second vehicle was driven by 59-year-old Aloma Smith of Cassopolis. Smith collided with Schaller at the intersection of M-60 and Daily Road.
Smith was transported by PrideCare Ambulance to the hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities say that seat belts were worn and that drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the crash.
Assisting agencies on scene were PrideCare Ambulance and Cassopolis Fire Department.
